Summary:

The film opens on a typical day in Nerima as Ranma and Akane chase Happosai as he absconds with a pair of Akane's panties. The chase winds up slowly accumulating more and more characters from the series join in until dozens of people are tearing apart the neighborhood as they chase after Ranma and Akane.

As the massive chase winds down at the Tendo home, a large airship appears. Soon a number of mysterious figures appear on deck revealing themselves to be the Seven Lucky Gods Martial Artists. Their leader, Kirin, kidnaps Akane because she happens to be holding a scroll that his intended wife should have. Akane happend to have picked it up fom Lychee, a young Chinese girl who was planning to marry Kirin. Akane is taken, leaving Ranma and Ryoga behind while Lychee is devastated about being passed over.

As the Seven Lucky Gods Martial Artists head back to China with Akane in tow, Ranma, Ryoga, Lychee, Kuno, Shampoo, Happosai, Genma and Mousse take Kuno's boat on a voyage to China. The trip is perilous as they encounter Kirin and his entourage at sea, and Ranma makes a failed attempt at recapturing Akane.

Unable to rescue Akane, the group arrives at Seven Luck Mountain just as the wedding is getting underway. Ranma and the others must fight their way through all of the Seven Lucky Gods as they block the entrances along the mountain paths. With help from his friends, Ranma manages to survive the dangerous journey and comes face to face with Kirin. The Chinese martial artist's ultimate attack was able to stop Ranma once, but this time Ranma outwits Kirin and breaks down his immpenatrable offense using his Katchu Tenshin Amaguriken. With Kirin all but beaten, Ranma tears the entire tower down using the Hiryu Shoten Ha. Inside the twister created by Ranma's techniqe, Kirin saves Lychee and realizes the is the girl he should have married all along.

Ranma, Akane and the others return safely to Japan and soon Kirin and Lychee send a gift of pickled vegetables with an invitation announcing their wedding. As the film ends, Ranma realizes that while they were in China he should have stopped by Jusenkyo to cure his curse.

Notes:
  • Perhaps best known in English by the title Viz gave the film- "Big Trouble in Nekonron, China". The first Ranma 1/2 film involves a scroll with an "ultimate technique" written on it that Akane happens to be holding when Prince Kirin of the Seven Lucky Gods Martial Artists arrives at the Tendo home. Kirin takes Akane as his bride rather than Lychee, the true owner of the scroll. Ranma and friends then have to travel to China via Kuno's boat to save Akane from marrying the powerful prince. The voyage is long and difficult, and once everyone arrives in Nekonron, they must fight their way into the tower and dispatch each of the Seven Lucky God martial artists- somewhat reminisant of Bruce Lee's The Game of Death and Saint Saiya's Asgard Saga. The ending has Ranma facing Kirin in a one-on-one battle that is so powerful it tears the tower down around them.
